Ervin Munir

Ervin Munir is a Norfolk based folk singer-songwriter and this is his third album. If you have not heard him before, this is a good place to start. If you have, you already know what he is capable of and this record will not disappoint you.

Eleven tracks, and not one of them feels like it was thrown in to make up the numbers. The album opens with “Lifeline” and closes with “Live And Learn” and in between it covers a lot of ground. Piano, folk, a bit of rock in places. It shifts around but it never feels messy.

The lyrics are the kind you find yourself thinking about later. “Rainfall Memories” is probably the one that stuck with me most. “I Don’t Care” and “One Step Beyond” are also worth your time.

The title track has an animated video coming with it and it is one of the more personal moments on the record. You can tell it meant something to write.

The album is dedicated to Aeron Z Jones, who produced Munir’s previous work and passed away recently. They were close friends. You do not need to know that to enjoy the album but knowing it adds something. It feels like a record made with a lot of care and with someone specific in mind.
