‘Heartsease’ by Karuna is one of those tracks where it is difficult to place it alongside another; it makes it such a compelling release.
Finding influence from world and early music, Karuna examine an area of music that rarely gets a mention. But, they do it in a thought-provoking way, and Abi Rooley-Towle, the vocalist, charms her way forward with an ethereal delivery.
As the track progresses, many sounds rise out of the compound, and the subtle use of guitar and fiddle makes the group stand out, but for all the right reasons.
